Green Star
Submissions
Certain submissions may be denoted as green star submissions if
I think they are significantly better than the average. There is no
specific criteria here and it simply means a submission that was
a bit more touching, moving, informative, incisive, or
persuasive than most, in my opinion.
The first green star
was awarded to "Why I Never Married A Thai" written by Arthur,
which was run in July 2005. At the time I thought that
particular submission was so good that I had to come up with
some sort of system to recognise exceptional submissions, and
hence the green star was born.
It should be noted that
before that point in time, there was no green star submission in
place so exceptional submissions published before then may not
have been recognised. Two submissions stick in my mind as
worthy, "You Saved My Marriage" and "For Jiraporn" have been
awarded green star status retrospectively.
