Bangkok Indian Tailor Recommendation: Boss Apparels
Indian tailors stores in Bangkok don't always have the best reputation. Many Western visitors complain of being hassled as they walk along the street by those who try to convince them that they are poorly dressed and that a suit is needed to upgrade their appearance. Such unwelcome pests can be found in all of the tourist areas of Thailand.
But not all Indian tailors' stores operate that way. Some tailors concentrate more on the quality of their tailoring than on convincing people who don't want or don't need tailored clothes to enter their store. One such tailor is "Mack".
I first met Mack, the proprietor of Boss Apparels which is located right next to the Nation Stadium skytrain station, more than 10 years ago and a friendship was formed. In my early days in Bangkok I would often hang out at Mack's store and we would sit back and chat about life in general.
But I didn't just hang around the store. I was also a customer of Mack's, and have been for more than a decade. Every year, often around April, I go and see Mack and get some new clothes made. I've had shirts made, trousers made and even the odd suit. I have always been very happy with the quality and as Mack's shop is not on the most expensive part of Sukhumvit or Silom his prices are not as lofty as you would expect.
But then don't go expecting the cheapest prices in town. That's not the sector of the market Mack is after. He produces quality tailored clothes at fair prices. He and his team, Paul and David, pictured below, are honest and will spend time with you discussing the type of cut of clothing that suits you, the advantages and disadvantages of different fabrics and will seek to provide you with what you want, rather than what a tailor thinks you want.
Boss Apparels is located right next to the National Stadium skytrain station. Take exit 1 and you are almost there. The map below shows you where the store is in relation to the skytrain station.
If you are looking to get any clothes tailor made in Bangkok, I can recommend Boss Apparels. Please note that this page is NOT a paid ad and I do not get any commission from promoting Mack's business. It is where I go for my own clothes - and have done so for 10 years - and I simply want to send readers to an honest tailor's store.
